Manifest It: Mindset Tips to Bring Your Vision to Life

The brain is the most powerful organ in your body. One thought can trigger a warm glow of happiness or send shockwaves of anxiety and fear. Even though you experience this phenomenon every moment of your life, conceptualizing how this actually happens can be so difficult.

Your brain controls what you do, how you do it, and the way you perceive the world. For example, when you experience pain, you choose to either ignore or indulge the feeling. Focusing on the pain sends electrical currents to your brain, actually encouraging the pain to continue.

Pain perception is only one example of how the mind's power can trick you into believing something is there that isn’t. This process isn’t magic, but proven science. So, how can you use this power to your advantage?

A machine for mindful manifestation

With the right mindset, your brain can help you realize your wildest dreams. But as complex and influential as the mind is, accomplishing this alone is impossible.

Manifesting is a tool that uses diligent, intentional visualization to help you reach aspirational goals. The process helps you fully harness the abilities of your brain so every decision is punctuated by the underlying desire to achieve.

The solution? Adopt a mindset of manifestation. No matter what, your thoughts are what truly guide you. In Evolve Your Brain: The Science of Changing Your Mind, the author says, “Repetitive thoughts create connections in the brain that quickly become ironclad. These thoughts move from conscious to unconscious ways of thinking and being. That is how we act on auto-pilot.”

Your mindset influences what happens in your life. Have you ever heard the expression, “Put your mind to something?” We’ve all said this at one point or another because the statement is true. When you set your mind to grow your business, get a promotion, or take a dream vacation, you're actually manifesting that outcome.

Of course, this street goes both ways. Left to its own devices, the mind is just as effective at negativity as positivity.

Manifesting negativity

Getting caught up in negativity usually isn’t intentional, but it can be the result of a period of multiple setbacks and losses. When you’re stuck in a cycle of negative manifestation, you might be constantly wondering when the next obstacle, unexpected expense, or personal tragedy is about to happen.

All that focus on worry and fear sounds exhausting, but few of those who are trapped in that kind of negativity see it that way. They might think their mindset is simply realistic and that they’re protecting themselves from the inevitable. In the process, they dig deeper into a pit of despair.

When you’re experiencing a negative mindset, you might believe that even seemingly innocuous events are the direct result of bad luck. The proof of your misfortune can become a narrative you play on repeat until you're fully convinced of your own inherent tragedy.

A poor mindset almost always results in more negativity. So what happens after challenging moments? Setbacks and problems are a part of life. How do you overcome them and manifest positivity?

Changing the narrative

In the face of adversity, perspective is everything. Changing your narrative and choosing to see problems as possibilities isn’t easy. With the right mindset, you can decide how the inevitable obstacles in life will influence you. You can decide how to respond. You can find the path to overcome.

Acknowledging what you can control and accepting what you can’t is crucial. You only have mastery over your own thoughts and actions. Everything else is up to the random, uncontrollable forces of the world around you.

I don’t want to downplay the difficulty of shifting your perspective. I‘ve struggled with my own mindset, so I’m not saying this kind of mental transformation is easy. It isn’t. Modifying your thinking takes effort and time, but the result is undeniably rewarding.

Manifesting with vision boards

Vision boards are a great tool to help you visually represent what you want to manifest. Think about a dart board. The darts represent your mental energy and on the board, you have all the possible outcomes for your life. Vision boards can act as a bullseye, revealing exactly where you need to aim your energy to ultimately hit your goals. With this approach, your brain might recognize opportunities that are otherwise obscured.

There’s solid science behind vision boards, because our brains assign a higher “value” to images than words. Psychologists call the process of imprinting important goals onto our subconscious and subtly influencing our actions “value-tagging.”

The manifestation mindset

If setting up a vision board doesn’t appeal to you, don’t worry. They aren’t a must-have for manifesting. Manifestation is all about your mindset, the process of visualizing your aspirational goals and choosing to set a course for success. Use whatever works for you to keep what you want to achieve top of mind.

Ultimately, a mindset of manifestation is what you really need. With this perspective, you can approach life from a place of abundance rather than focusing on scarcity or limitations. You see possibilities where before there were only problems. You envision a new and better reality for your life.

A manifestation mindset doesn’t happen without total openness. The more open you are to life’s possibilities, the more likely you’ll reach your objectives—almost like a magnet. As you reach more milestones, you’ll be pulled toward your ultimate goal with greater strength.

So where is your head and heart pulling you? Are you taking deliberate steps toward your goals with a manifestation mindset? As Norman Vincent Peale said, “Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars.” Whether you reach the moon or the stars, the journey is worth celebrating.
