I’m a big believer in the power of kindness and likeability. They matter more than people realize in negotiations and leaving a good impression makes people want to come back. When you truly see and respect others, you can enter conversations not from a place of combativeness but with openness and understanding. In these instances, you’re guided by something more meaningful.
Approaching others with compassion isn’t just rare these days, it almost makes you a unicorn. But I believe that kind of presence offers a strategic advantage. As Maya Angelou famously said, “People may not remember what you said or did, but they will always remember how you made them feel.”
In a world where empathy feels increasingly rare, choosing to lead with understanding can set you apart.
